ZAMBIAN BREWERIES WELCOMES GOVERNMENT’S PLEDGE TO SUPPORT INDUSTRIAL GROWTH
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambian Breweries has welcomed the government’s commitment to growth-oriented policies and fair taxation, emphasising the importance of creating an enabling environment for local manufacturing.
Speaking at State House during a meeting with the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) recently, President Hakainde Hichilema highlighted how sustainable economic growth benefits businesses, investors, farmers, and the national treasury, signalling a continued focus on policies that stimulate industrial development.

“I am not an advocate of high taxes. I am an advocate of growth. With reasonable taxation on local businesses, our economy expands, and the Treasury benefits accordingly,” said President Hakainde Hichilema. “In my meeting with Zambia Breweries, it was clear that addressing their challenges will help businesses thrive and advance the government’s broader economic agenda, creating opportunities for all Zambians.”
Zambian Breweries welcomed the President’s remarks, describing them as a clear demonstration of government commitment to industrial growth and business partnership. Represented at the engagement by Country Director Thais Cavinatto and Board Chairperson Monica Musonda, the company highlighted the role of a supportive business environment in driving sustainable development and economic prosperity.
“We were honoured to participate in this important dialogue,” said Ms Cavinatto. “The President’s focus on growth over high taxation resonates strongly with our mission. Sustainable development comes from creating opportunities for businesses to flourish, which in turn strengthens local supply chains, supports farmers, and boosts contributions to the national treasury. With a conducive environment, Zambian Breweries can expand production, innovate, and deliver greater value to both the economy and our consumers.”
Ms Musonda emphasised the wider implications of the engagement for investor confidence and Zambia’s industrialisation agenda.
“This message provides certainty and reassurance for investors, manufacturers, and farmers across the value chain,” Ms Musonda said. “It is encouraging to see the government prioritising practical solutions that enable businesses to grow while supporting national development objectives. We look forward to continuing constructive dialogue and collaboration to ensure Zambia’s manufacturing sector reaches its full potential.”
In addition, Zambian Breweries reaffirmed its commitment to compliance with all regulatory and fiscal obligations, recognising the critical role of excise and tax contributions in supporting the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and strengthening the national treasury. By ensuring accurate reporting, product traceability, and operational discipline, the company contributes directly to government revenue while maintaining high standards for consumers and the wider economy.
