Cheers to Bars – Zambian Breweries and Partners Celebrate
Zambia’s Bar Culture and 50 Years of Mosi
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambian Breweries raised a glass with partners, bar owners, and communities at Royal Park, Chilenje, as the Cheers to Bars campaign culminated in a vibrant celebration of Zambia’s bar culture and the golden jubilee of Mosi Premium Lager; a beer that has united Zambians for 50 years.
Held in partnership with the Bars and Nightclubs Association of Zambia, the event brought together government officials, industry leaders, bar owners, patrons, and other stakeholders to recognise the vital role that bars play as hubs where people connect, celebrate and create memories.
“Bars are more than places to enjoy a drink,” said Zambian Breweries Country Director, Thais Cavinatto.
“They are places where friendships are forged, milestones are marked, culture is shared, and sport and entertainment are enjoyed. They are places of laughter, unity, and liveliness. Today, we celebrate the custodians of our culture; our bars and our golden beer, Mosi.”
The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the National Arts Policy of 2023, recognises the immense potential of the creative industries to drive economic growth, foster social cohesion, and empower its youth.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts commended Zambian Breweries for its commitment to communities, responsible drinking, and youth empowerment through sport and the arts.
The brewing giant has not only brewed a beer that is part of Zambia’s heritage, but has also championed the country’s youth and creative industries. “From promoting smart drinking, to supporting Zambia’s first women’s rugby team to the Olympics, and showcasing local talent through the Mosi Day of Thunder festival, ZB continues to invest in the future of our young people,” said the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts.
Bars and Nightclubs Association of Zambian President, Mr Peter Mwale added: “Bars are at the heart of our communities. With partners like Zambian Breweries, we can continue to provide safe, welcoming spaces that support livelihoods and bring people together.”
“Zambian Breweries is proud to stand with the bars that have carried our brands, especially Mosi, for five decades. Together, we have built more than a business; we have built a culture of connection,” said ZB Country Director, Thais Cavinatto.
In line with ensuring safe and responsible bar operations, Lusaka City Council’s Director of Public Health, Mr Victor Kagoli, also addressed the audience, stating: “Licensing and public health measures are vital to keeping our bars safe spaces for the community. Partnerships with industry leaders like Zambian Breweries help us uphold standards while supporting economic growth and vibrant social spaces.”
The Cheers to Bars event highlighted the power of partnership in strengthening Zambia’s bar culture. By working together; government, industry players, and bar owners — the sector can continue to thrive, creating vibrant, welcoming spaces for communities to connect, celebrate, and enjoy shared experiences.
“When bars thrive, communities thrive, and Zambia thrives,” added Ms Cavinatto. “Together, we will continue to create a future filled with more cheers; a future of shared success, resilience, and unity.”
